The graduation ceremony debate

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

In keeping with a theme of a-post-a-day-until-graduation, I have decided to write about the impending date: June 17, 2006. On that day I will find myself at some large auditorium somewhere on the UC Davis campus, with a few friends and family watching from audience.
Or will I?

The more I think about it, the more I’d rather just relax with friends around town, or work on packing up for my trip to Russia, or maybe even drive back to Santa Barbara. As a sociology major (with a penchant for taking a few too many science classes) I will certainly find myself embedded in a throng of other Letters & Sciences graduates, all eagerly (and/or drunkly) awaiting their fake diploma. On the upside, I guess the traditional aspect of the ceremony would be nice but with so much schooling ahead of me, I don’t see one little A.B. commencement as such a big deal.

Egg face?

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Day two and I’m already having trouble with material. A big thanks to the guy who sat in front of me in Sociology 100 who utilized our Marxism discussion to draw Mr. Egg Face.

Honestly, this is the first time I’ve ever been really happy to have a camera phone.

Eight weeks left…

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Yesterday I ran around getting things done before getting home after 9pm. I caught up with the roommates, wrote a ton of e-mails and finally got to bed around midnight. Although I wasn’t exactly looking forward to getting up at 6:15am to flyer for GASC, I realized that I wouldn’t have many opportunities like this is the coming weeks before graduation. So at 12:15am, I made the executive decision to write here at least five times a week until graduation. It might not always be exciting or thrilling but at least I’ll get something down.

While considering this, I thought I might include one picture a day but that could get crazy pretty quickly. For now, I’ll just post a link to the new Flickr gallery I made for Caitlin and Mark’s wedding.
